Weekly Spelling Activities
2 Point Activities
1. Write your words: Write your words 5 times.
2. Computer: Type each of your words on the computer. Print them out.
3. Vowels: Circle the vowels in your words.
4. Consonants: Circle the consonants in your words.
5. Singular/Plural: Write the singular or plural form of each of your words.
6. Word Detective: Have someone write your words leaving out some letters. Solve the puzzle.
3 Point Activities
1. Alphabetical Order: Put your words in ABC order.
2. Dictionary Respelling: Look up each word in the dictionary and write the respelling.
3. Antonyms: Write a word that means the opposite of each of your words.
4. Synonyms: Write a word that means the same as each of your words.
5. Syllables: Divide each word into syllables. (Use a dictionary)
6. Scrambled Words: Have someone scramble the letters in each of your spelling words. Then you solve them.
7. Word Collage: Cut your words out of a magazine or newspaper and glue them to a piece of paper.
8. Codes: Write your words in code form. Have a friend or parent solve your code.
4 Point Activities
1. Sentences: Write each of your words in a meaningful sentence.
2. Definitions: Write the definition of each of your words. Use a dictionary.
3. Guide Words: Make a list of your words. Look up each word in the dictionary and write the guide words, found on that page of the dictionary.
4. Word Search: Use graph paper and create a hidden word search with your words. Have a friend solve your puzzle.
5. Cross Word Puzzle: Use graph paper to create a cross word puzzle with your words. Have a friend solve the puzzle.
6. Creative Story/Poem: Write a story or poem using all your words.
7. Art: Use art materials to write your spelling words on paper.
8. Your Own Method: Come up with your own idea. Be sure to check with your teacher for the point value.
10 Points are due no later than Thursday of each week! Make up 10 points by combining different activities. Doing the same thing twice in the same week will only be counted once.
